Description
The town is rich in history, art and traditional customs, and living in the old town centre is a great experience - totally different from a fleeting tourist visit. The town's history and its more interesting aspects, its picturesque nooks and crannies can only be properly appreciated living at its heart, which is full of small alleyways and little hidden piazzas with its 'living-rooms' - the bars, pubs and wine bars, along with the theatre and a variety of restaurants each of which has its own specialities.

Directions
For those traveling from the North, the first town they come across on the Amalfi Coast is Positano. Continuing along the Strada Statale 163 road, visitors reach the towns of Praiano, Amalfi, Minori, Maiori, Cetara and Vietri sul Mare. The only railway station on the Amalfi Coast is the one at Vietri sul Mare, which is linked with the stations of Naples and Salerno.
Area description
The beach is just 300 metres away, and and is just a short walk away through the centre of town. Cars are not needed whatsoever as Amalfi is well served by public transport. Ravello is 7kms away and Positano 17 kms.
