The undisputed party capital of the French Alps, Meribel is Britain’s favourite place to ski. Slap bang in the centre of the famed Trois Vallees ski area, it’s as well known for its raucous, no holds barred après-ski and big name DJs as it is for its stunning slopes. You’ll find some of the best skiing in the world, some stunning scenery and a state-of-the-art, ultra-convenient lift system – and nightlife that’s almost as exhausting as a downhill run.

Skiing in Meribel

Meribel caters for all abilities with a decent mix of runs spread across the valley, and a modern network of efficient lifts ensure you enjoy a smooth, trouble-free day on the piste. With 93 miles (150 km) of skiing in the town, and 370 miles (600 km) in the Three Valleys area as a whole, there’s something to suit snow lovers of any ability.

The Altiport is the best area for beginners to learn the ropes, while more experienced skiers will relish taking a day trip to La Tania, whizzing their way through exhilerating tree-lined runs en route. More accomplished skiers will be itching to have a crack at the ‘motorways’ down from Val Thorens and the excellent off-piste action around the Mont-Vallon area.

Meribel is packed with well-established ski schools catering for all levels, so you’re fantastically catered for whether you’re a complete novice or just a little rusty
